By blood or by choice, sweating with your tribe is just more fun. Unless you can hit the ground running at 5 am, have enough dedication to leave the house in 0 degree weather, or prefer sweat it out with no encouragement, this one’s for you. We’ve broken down the three main reasons why having a workout buddy (or two) make a Cycology saddle session more fun and effective.
MotivationHave you ever promised yourself you’ll hit the gym Monday morning, or jump back on the healthy wagon after a weekend binge? Don’t worry, you’re not alone (seriously, it happens to me all. the. time.). Find your go-to workout buddy(ies) and don’t let them go! At Cycology Studio, we see coworkers, parents/kids (pictured above is Kristen Williams, her two kids and their two friends – perfect combo!), girlfriends, boyfriends, spouses, or even fellow Cycologists motivating each other to hit a certain amount of classes/week or calories per class. Not only will your crew help get you off the couch and into the studio, they may push you to increase your current fitness level. Riding side by side with someone who’s faster, stronger or fitter than you will motivate you to work harder. So, find another Lance Armstrong (sans doping scandal) and hit the road.
AccountabilitySetting your alarm for a 6am ride and late canceling is no big deal, right? How about setting your alarm for a 6am ride, late canceling AND flaking on the friend you promised a sweat date. Rude, right? Okay, maybe that’s a little dramatic, but having a little extra accountability totally helps with showing up. It’s the hardest part, we promise! Make that commitment to your riding partner and follow through, after 45 minutes and an upwards of 500 calories burned, you’ll be happy you did. Also, do your friends a favor and light that fire under their booties, too! This is a two-way street!
CommunityTen minutes before the studio doors open, all our riders are mingling by the lockers or hanging out in the front lounge. After class, as those double doors swing open, we see smiles, high fives and laughter – the bond of riders stronger than it was 45 minutes earlier. We couldn’t be prouder of the connections and camaraderie manifested at Cycology Studio – in fact, creating a loving, accepting and safe community for you is our ultimate goal. So, thanks everybody, for bringing your cronies and welcoming solo riders with your sweaty arms open.
